Colin Gibson

National Director, A Rocha Lebanon

Colin studied Geology at Nottingham University and after graduation spent several years in the mining industry in the UK and Zambia.  Later he gained a master’s degree in Water Management at Cranfield University (UK).  In 2004 he joined England’s environmental regulator where he also obtained qualifications in project and programme management (PRINCE2 and MSP).   His work covered flood mitigation and water quality issues at the river basin level.

Since 2015 he has been a Mission Partner with the Church Mission Society, living and working in Lebanon.  Before joining A Rocha Lebanon, he spent 5 years helping another Lebanese NGO with partner and business development.  He is a strong supporter of the 3R’s principle (reduce, reuse, re-cycle) and small-scale initiatives such as composting and rainfall collection in the garden.  He believes that education and awareness raising, using strong positive messages, are essential to bring about change and that even small improvements, if adopted widely, can have a big impact.
